Matrones Training at Haiti Village Health – with Support from AmeriCares

Thanks to the grant from AmeriCares, HVH has so far provided three training sessions for traditional birth attendants (TBAs) in the Bas Limbe area. Up to 18 TBAs have attended each of these sessions. We have so far discussed prenatal care, general anatomy, and normal vaginal delivery.  Sarah, a midwife and educator from Oregon, and Youselène, Santé Pou Yo's nurse, are providing these weekly sessions for the next few months.

The classes are extremely fun and informative, with lots of time for role play, singing, and demonstrations.

All the staff and volunteers at HVH are very excited about this program. Thank you AmeriCares for making this possible and Dr. Emmanuelle Britton for spearheading this project.
